AN DECEASED estate in Asquith sold under the hammer for $1.362 million, $62,000 above reserve.

The original three-bedroom home at 43 Baldwin Ave attracted five registered bidders at the auction.

Bidding started at $1 million and ended within five minutes.

Selling agent Jaime Garrick from Ray White Hornsby said the buyers were a couple who had children that lived 10 doors down from the house.

“They’ve been looking for two years were always missing out because the market had been quite aggressive up until three months ago,” Mr Garrick said.

“There were tears of joy from the four daughters of the vendor.”

The sale marked the first time in 59 years that the home had been sold.

Original owners, Claude and Nance Lewis bought it in 1956.

During the campaign, 40 groups came through the home and 12 contracts were issued.

The median house price in Asquith has risen 32.3 per cent in the last 12 months to $1,129,280, according to CoreLogic RP Data.
