Although someone obtained the recording through a public records request, it was made public by the ‘Hidden True Crime’ podcast. The leaked phone call was aired on one of the episodes of the mystery podcast.

Jim Griffin, who was on the receiving end of the phone call, openly slammed this shattering of attorney-client privilege.

After the episode, a social media user shared a clip of the call on Twitter and raised questions about whether it should remain confidential due to client-attorney confidentiality.

It was a debate that gave rise to a furious response from Jim Griffin, who confirmed the authenticity of the call and warned that he was “mad as hell” about it being leaked on Twitter.

The call begins with Jim saying that he needs to go back to bed and call his wife. Alex says, “I know that, and I’m going to let you go. But the one thing I wanted to tell you. Please don’t think I’m being critical about that because I’m not. I don’t think you could have done a better job with him than you did today.”

Hidden True Crime is the production of a media organization run by husband-wife duo Dr. John Matthias and Lauren Matthias.

Many news outlets reached out to Griffin to get a comment for him, but until now, he has been very unforthcoming.

The call was released days after Murdaugh’s double murder trial captured a massive amount of attention.

On March 2nd, the disgraced attorney was charged with murdering his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. He was sentenced to life in prison.

The killer’s wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, were brutally murdered on the night of June 7th, 2021.

Maggie, Paul, and Murdaugh were present at the dog kennels on the family’s sprawling Moselle estate.
