Tremont Waters Biography

Tremont Waters is a college basketball player from the United States. He plays in the Southeastern Conference(SEC) for the LSU Tigers of the Louisiana State University. He plays in the point guard position and dons the number 3 jersey.

Tremont grew up in West Haven, Connecticut. His parents are his prime supporters. His dad did take pride in guiding him. He made him watch an ESPN “30 for 30” about athletes with financial issues and also wanted him to complete college.

His dad always taught him how to be a great young man. He wanted him to graduate from college and be able to take care of himself, his family, loved ones and be a leader in his community.

Tremont was named Connecticut’s 2017 Gatorade player of the year in high school. Water started at point guard in college at LSU. He hit a late basket to knock off Maryland in the NCAA tournament in March. Waters considered going pro after his sophomore season at LSU.

After high school in Notre Dame, he was initially committed to Georgetown University. This changed after the firing of coach John Thompson III. Rivals.com ranked him number 37 overall in his high school class. On the 5th of June in 2017, he committed to Louisiana State University under the guidance of coach Will Wade. He was the Gatorade and Register State Player of the Year in Connecticut for the year 2017.

He scored 39 points, a season-high, in a 94-84 loss to Marquette. This was on the 22nd of November in 2017. He averaged 15.9 points, 6.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game as a Freshman. He broke the school record for most assists by a freshman after giving out 198 assists. The previous record was held by Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers.

He was named in the Freshman All-SEC team. He was the Freshman of the Year in Louisiana.

He entered his name in the 2018 NBA draft, this was after his freshman season. However, he did not hire an agent to preserve his collegiate eligibility. As a result, he went back to college basketball. On the 29th of May in 2018, he announced his return to Louisianna State for his sophomore season.

Tremont is waiting to hear if his name gets called in the 2019 NBA Draft, which began on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT. In The Athletic’s final “Big Board” for the NBA Draft. He ranks as the No. 52 overall prospect.

Tremont Waters Dad

He is the son of Ed Waters and Vanessa Waters. Ed Waters, Tremont dad died on  July 11 2019, in a local hotel. His death was termed as suicide by police. He died at the age of 49 years. Tremont Waters started for the Celtics in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League while still mourning his father. His father was at the game to watch him.
